Are you ready to play a key role in supporting the delivery of housing growth across South Yorkshire, including working with our partners and Government to drive up the level of social housing delivery?

SYMCA is growing its Housing Strategy Team. To help drive and deliver against SYMCA's housing growth ambitions, we are recruiting a Housing Growth Manager.

Now is an exciting time to join SYMCA's Housing and Infrastructure Team. As an Established Mayoral Strategic Authority (EMSA) with a devolved housing growth budget and a robust regional housing pipeline, we are ready to deliver on SYMCA's housing growth ambitions and the Government's drive for everyone to have a secure home, including "the biggest council house building programme since the post war period".

Reporting directly to the Head of Housing Strategy, you will:

  • Lead on enabling SYMCA's Housing Growth ambitions, including 9,000 new affordable homes over the next five years.
  • Work in collaboration with our colleagues at Homes England and other key stakeholders, such as the South Yorkshire Housing Partnership, to maximise place-based housing growth and social housing delivery across the region.
  • Have a lead role in supporting the four South Yorkshire local authorities in bringing forward housing schemes, including the identification of public sector intervention where appropriate.
  • Manage and develop the South Yorkshire Housing Pipeline.
About the role

As Housing Growth Manager, you will play a leading role in driving housing growth across South Yorkshire and supporting the delivery of major housing development programmes.

You will manage and develop the South Yorkshire Housing Pipeline, working closely with local authorities, Homes England and other partners to maximise investment opportunities and bring forward new housing schemes. You will support the development of business cases for housing programmes and help secure public and private sector funding to enable delivery.

The role involves building and maintaining strong partnerships across the region, providing project management support for complex housing initiatives, and ensuring housing growth aligns with wider priorities around regeneration, economic growth and place‑making.

You will also provide advice and briefing material for senior leaders, the Mayor, the MCA Board and key partners, ensuring housing growth activity is supported by robust evidence, effective governance and strong stakeholder engagement.

About you

You will bring:

  • An excellent partnership and innovative approach to maximising housing growth.
  • Strong working experience of delivering housing growth.
  • An in-depth understanding of the role of Established Mayoral Strategic Authorities in delivering housing growth.
  • Excellent project management and business development skills.

You will be an experienced professional with a strong understanding of the national housing growth agenda and the challenges involved in delivering new homes at a regional level. You will be confident working with a wide range of stakeholders, building productive partnerships and influencing decision-making.

You will have excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex projects, balance competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes. Most importantly, you will be passionate about creating opportunities for housing growth and helping deliver lasting benefits for communities across South Yorkshire.
