Job summary

Driscoll Kingston & Co Limited seeks a Housing Disrepair Fee Earner to join our team in Kingston upon Thames. The role manages a caseload of disrepair claims from initial screening to post-litigation, ensuring clients receive proper compensation.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of litigation experience, excellent communication and IT skills, and the ability to work to targets in a supportive, in-person environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage own caseload of housing disrepair claims pre and post litigation.
• Screen potential claims by telephone and assess route to claim.
• Review incoming information and establish possible claim route.
• Operate case management system following workflow steps.
• Prepare letters of claim and surveyor instructions.
• Draft claim documents and court proceedings.
• Liaise with Counsel, experts and third parties.
• Ensure compliance with court deadlines and directions.
• Provide regular client updates and deliver excellent service.

Job description

We are seeking a Housing Disrepair Fee Earner to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling a caseload of disrepair claims, ensuring that clients receive appropriate compensation for housing disrepair issues.

Contract Type: Full-time
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday
Location: In person

Main Duties And Responsibilities:

• Managing your own case load of housing disrepair claims being pre and post litigated cases.
• Discuss potential claims and provide an initial screening review on the telephone in-line with the agreed criteria for new cases.
• To review incoming information and establish a possible claim route.
• Operating the case management system, using the required workflow steps correctly
• Assess case prospects and prepare the letter of claim
• Prepare surveyors instructions and advise on the same.
• Prepare claim documents and proceedings.
• Dealing with and drafting various interlocutory applications
• Deal with case as they proceed via the court process.
• Ensure compliance with court deadlines and directions.
• Liaising with Counsel, experts and any other third parties in an efficient and professional manner
• Be proactive and use initiative when presented with problems or issues.
• Complete autonomy with instruction through to settlement
• Provide excellent customer service by regularly updating clients on the progress of their case and answering any queries in a professional manner
• Experience in managing own case load
• Previous housing disrepair experience
• 1 year+ Litigation experience
• Confident when working to targets.
• Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively, as part of a team and using one’s own initiative.
• Competent I.T Skills
