Home, a place where you belong

Calling all night owls! We’re looking for a dedicated night worker who is as energised as a new Duracell bunny with the alert skills of a meerkat!

We’re seeking new Social Housing Concierges to join our growing teams. Here at Home Group, we care for our vulnerable customers and those with complex care needs. Your job will be to ensure our customers are safe, our buildings are secure, and that we maintain good relations with our neighbours.

Typical responsibilities as a Housing Concierge:

  • Act as the first line of support for our customers when our wider team or their own support network aren’t available.
  • Manage the health and safety of the building, including patrolling to check fire doors and ensuring everything is locked and secure.
  • Think on your feet and manage situations on the spot, such as investigating suspicious activity or raising the alarm when necessary.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of the premises.

You bring:

  • Calmness under pressure with excellent communication skills.
  • A passion for supporting the most vulnerable in society, with relevant experience in public service or military.
  • Sociability and interest in people, using insights to spot changes in behaviour.
  • Confidence to intervene sensitively when necessary.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently, backed by our wider team including our out-of-hours emergency support team.
  • A vehicle insured for business purposes; we’ll cover your mileage!

Job details:

  • Travel between our services across County Durham.
  • Working 4 nights in and 4 nights off between the hours of 8:30 PM and 8:15 AM.
  • Participation in daytime training and team meetings.
  • Ability to use technology to monitor CCTV and update records.
  • Completion of an Enhanced DBS check (we pay for this).

What’s in it for you?

  • 34 days leave (including bank holidays and a “me day”) increasing to 39, plus time off for volunteering.
  • Health cash plan covering costs for dental, optical, prescriptions, and more.
  • Access to over 800 high street discounts on groceries, holidays, and more.
  • Opportunities for career growth within the organization.
  • A supportive environment recognized for its commitment to colleague wellbeing.

We want all our colleagues to be who they truly are at work. Our internal diversity networks support us all to be our best. Together we make Home Group a great place to work!
