Job summary

Trust Housing Association Limited is seeking a Care & Support Worker to assist older adults in their own homes in Loanhead, Midlothian. The role operates across mornings, evenings and weekends with guaranteed 16 hours weekly on a rolling 2-week rota.

You will follow individual care plans, provide daily living support and coordinate with the team to ensure compassionate, person-centred care. Training, SVQ options, and a supportive environment are offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the care sector, working with older people or vulnerable individuals.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily living support according to individual care plans.
  • Assist with medications, personal care and meals.
  • Build rapport with residents and respect their preferences.
  • Work flexible shifts between 7.00am and 10.00pm, including weekends.
  • Follow safeguarding and PVG/Sssc requirements.

Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Care & Support Worker to join our team in Loanhead, Midlothian, on a part-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent job opportunity for those who live in and around Midlothian.

About the Care & Support Worker role:

As a Care & Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in supporting older and vulnerable adults in their own homes. Operating between 7.00am and 10.00pm seven days a week, you'll provide assistance with daily living tasks based on individual care plans. Whether it's administering medication, personal support, or helping with meals, your empathetic approach will make a real difference to our tenants' lives. You’ll have the time to get to know our residents and are trusted to give each person the care and support they need, in the way they like.

Location: 2 Hawthorn Gardens, Loanhead, Midlothian EH20 9EE

Hourly Rate: £14.04 per hour

Availability: Flexible shifts (morning and back shifts) including weekends

Guaranteed Hours: 16 hours per week, worked over average 4 days on a rolling 2-week Rota basis, with a mixture of weekdays and alternate weekends, day shifts and back shifts

Care & Support Skills and Experience:
  • Has experience in the care sector and working with older people or other vulnerable members of a community, so you will understand their needs and know how to meet these.
  • Holds an SVQ in Health and Social Care or relevant qualification.
  • Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possesses basic IT skills.

Please note this role is subject to satisfactory interview, references and a PVG check. You will be required to register with the SSSC, complete mandatory training within a timeframe and the commitment to studying for an SVQ in Care & Support if you do not already hold this qualification.
