Job summary

Trust Housing Association in Galashiels, Scottish Borders, is seeking a Care & Support Worker on a permanent basis. You will support older and vulnerable adults in their own homes, delivering daily living assistance across a wide timetable from early morning to evenings, seven days a week, with flexible shifts and a rolling rota.

We offer an hourly rate of £14.04, 20 guaranteed hours per week, paid training, SVQ study opportunities, uniform, generous annual leave, pension contributions, PVG

Qualifications

  • Experience in care sector with older people or other vulnerable members of a community.
  • Holds an SVQ in Health and Social Care or relevant qualification.
  • Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possesses basic IT skills.
  • Previous experience is preferred but we provide comprehensive training and support.

Responsibilities

  • Support older adults in their own homes and follow individual care plans.
  • Assist with daily living tasks, meals and medication administration as required.
  • Provide empathy and respectful, person-centred care to tenants.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold safeguarding standards.

Job description

Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Care & Support Worker to join our team in Galashiels, Scottish Borders TD1 3JY on a permanent basis. This is an excellent job opportunity for those who live in and around Galashiels.

  • Hourly Rate: £14.04 per hour
  • Availability: Flexible shifts (morning and back shifts) including weekends
  • Guaranteed Hours: 20 hours per week, worked over average 4 days on a rolling 2-week Rota basis, with a mixture of weekdays and alternate weekends, day shifts and back shifts

As a Care & Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in supporting older and vulnerable adults in their own homes. Operating between 7.00am and 10.00pm seven days a week, you'll provide assistance with daily living tasks based on individual care plans. Whether it's administering medication, personal support, or helping with meals, your empathetic approach will make a real difference to our tenants' lives. You’ll have the time to get to know our residents and are trusted to give each person the care and support they need, in the way they like.

Skills And Experience

The ideal candidate:

  • Has experience in the care sector and working with older people or other vulnerable members of a community, so you will understand their needs and know how to meet these.
  • Holds an SVQ in Health and Social Care or relevant qualification.
  • Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possesses basic IT skills.
  • Previous experience is preferred but not essential; we provide comprehensive training and support. What matters most is your passion, empathy, and dedication to helping our tenants live their lives to the fullest.

Closing Date: 12 noon on Wednesday 26th August 2026.

Please note this role is subject to satisfactory interview, references and a PVG check. You will be required to register with the SSSC, complete mandatory training within a timeframe and the commitment to studying for an SVQ in Care & Support if you do not already hold this qualification.
