Job summary

Lambeth Council is recruiting two Housing Adviser posts to join multi‑agency teams addressing homelessness. You will prevent and relieve homelessness under the Homelessness Reduction Act, interviewing households, advising on housing options and preparing Personal Housing Plans.

We welcome graduates and those with transferable skills; on‑the‑job training will be provided. Hybrid working and generous benefits form part of the role.

Qualifications

• Awareness of legislation relating to housing advice, homelessness, housing management and allocation.
• Broad knowledge of housing needs of homeless applicants and tenants.
• Experience providing quality housing advice to members of the public.
• Excellent negotiation and mediation techniques and application.

Responsibilities

• Prevent and relieve homelessness in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act and guidance.
• Carry out in depth interviews with households threatened with homelessness.
• Advise customers on housing options and complete Personal Housing Plans.
• Investigate complex housing situations and issue decisions under Housing Act rules.
• On the job training will be provided to successful applicants.
