Job summary

Stroud District Council is seeking an enthusiastic Housing Advice Officer to join the Housing Advice Team and help prevent homelessness by delivering housing advice and homelessness services.

You will have frontline experience, knowledge of the Housing Act and the Homelessness Reduction Act, and strong written and verbal communication skills. You will work in a busy team handling housing applications and supporting vulnerable residents with dignity and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role delivering housing advice and homelessness services.
• Knowledge of the Housing Act and the Homelessness Reduction Act is essential.
• Ability to deal with people in difficult situations with empathy and professionalism.
• Strong organisational and time management skills; high standards of written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Deliver housing advice and homelessness prevention through established procedures.
• Manage housing applications and the housing register (HomeseekerPlus) as part of a busy team.
• Contribute to safeguarding and customer service excellence within the Housing Advice Team.
