Job summary

A prominent healthcare provider in Redditch is looking for a Housekeeping Supervisor to ensure an efficient housekeeping service. Responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining cleanliness and infection control standards, conducting staff appraisals, and resolving issues promptly. Housekeeping Supervisor

Main Duties
  • Ensure staff have sufficient stock in cupboards to fulfil daily roles.
  • Ensure staff PDRs are completed and training is up to date.
  • Complete return-to-work procedures for staff returning from sick leave.

Job Responsibilities

Job Purpose

To provide an efficient housekeeping service, ensuring that standards are maintained at all times and delivering a responsive service to meet the needs of service users.

Key Relationships

Matrons, Departmental Heads, Senior Nurses, Ward and Departmental staff, Infection Control, Estates and Supplies, patients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Daily supervision of staff, ensuring daily contact with all on duty.
  2. Deal with, and rectify minor problems that arise on a daily basis.
  3. Have an understanding of the government guidelines on National Standards of Cleanliness.
  4. Carry out monitoring in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness.
  5. Take a proactive approach to cleaning, constantly striving to improve quality.
  6. Carry out staff appraisals, inductions and comprehensive training for new members.
  7. Maintain understanding of infection control and ensure compliance.
  8. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  9. Ensure staff are aware of Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and departmental safety procedures.
  10. Liaise with staff regarding day‑to‑day housekeeping service issues.
  11. Deal with complaints in the first instance and elevate issues to the Housekeeping and Linen Services Manager as required.

Key Activities

  • Organise and plan work rosters for maximum staff efficiency.
  • Accurately complete staff register and roster paperwork.
  • Allocate keys and maintain key log sheets.
  • Allocate supplies of cleaning chemicals and consumables.
  • Respond to telephone and bleep requests promptly.
  • Authorise annual leave ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Carry out staff return-to-work interviews after sickness absence.
  • Attend departmental meetings and provide training as needed.
  • Provide mop and cloth washing service in line with procedures.
  • Ensure staff comply with the uniform policy.Complete weekly time sheets.
  • Cover areas of work during staffing shortages.
