Job summary

Hesketh Park Lodge Care Home in Southport, Merseyside, is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment and support laundry duties.

In this hands-on role you will clean residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, follow infection control procedures, and contribute to residents’ comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing. Alternate weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Positive and reliable attitude.
• Strong attention to detail and good organisation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Understanding of hygiene and infection control is beneficial.
• Previous experience is welcomed but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Clean residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to high hygiene standards.
• Support laundry duties including washing, drying and ironing.
• Follow infection control and health and safety procedures.
• Ensure spaces are well presented and clearly labelled items handled with care.
• Work alternate weekends as required.

Job description

Hesketh Park Lodge Care Home is a modern, purpose built 79 bed care home in Southport, Merseyside, delivering high quality residential, nursing, dementia and respite care within a supportive, person centred environment.

Housekeeping Assistant Contract

• £12.71 per hour
• Contracted to 30 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.

You will be responsible for cleaning residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care.

Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
