Job summary

Meadow Bank Care Home in Preston is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to maintain a clean and welcoming environment and assist with laundry services. You will help keep residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to a high standard of hygiene and presentation, while supporting laundry duties and ensuring items are clearly labelled.

The role is part-time (18.5 hours per week) with duties across shifts. No formal experience required, training provided, and DBS/pension arrangements are included.

Qualifications

• A positive and reliable approach.
• Good attention to detail and organisation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of hygiene and infection control is beneficial.
• Previous experience is welcomed but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Clean residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to high hygiene standards.
• Support laundry duties including washing, drying and ironing, with items clearly labelled.
• Follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures.
• Contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where residents feel respected.

About Meadow Bank Care Home
Our 110 bedded home provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, including a dedicated Specialist Dementia Care Community. Located in Bamber Bridge, Preston, Meadow Bank is a welcoming home with spacious communal areas, landscaped gardens and a strong sense of community. Our team provides person centred care in a supportive environment, where you can build meaningful relationships with residents and make a real difference every day.

Housekeeping Assistant Contract

• Contracted to 18.5 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview
As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.
You will be responsible for cleaning residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care.
Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported.
