Job summary

Alexander House Care Home, part of Care Concern Group in Exeter, is recruiting a Housekeeping Assistant. You will clean residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to high hygiene standards and assist with laundry duties.

The role supports infection control and safety procedures, with alternating weekend work required to maintain comfort and wellbeing for residents. The position offers £12.71/hour on a 40-hour week, plus 5.6 weeks’ annual leave, paid DBS and pension, plus uniform provision.

Our newly built care home is based in the charming suburb of Pinhoe, Exeter. We offer exceptional standards of Nursing, Residential, Dementia and Respite care for 67 residents.

Housekeeping Assistant Contract

• £12.71 per hour
• Contracted to 40 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing. You will be responsible for cleaning residents' rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care. Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported. The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
