Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset are seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to join #TeamUHD at Christchurch Hospital. You will be part of a team delivering high-standard domestic cleaning across wards and theatres, ensuring smooth patient flow and a clean, safe environment.

The role is part-time (30 hours weekly), with shifts 15:00–21:00 Monday to Friday. Salary is £25,272 per annum pro rata, with a focus on quality, teamwork and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Literacy and numeracy to at least Level 1 (reading and writing).
• Previous experience of cleaning as a paid role.
• Experience cleaning in a clinical environment.
• Knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment.
• Physically fit to perform a range of tasks.
• Ability to work under pressure and be flexible.
• Able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised persons, who will become part of a team of Housekeeping Assistants who facilitate the flow of patients throughout the hospital.

You’ll be organised and able to communicate effectively - ensuring wards and departments are cleaned and maintained to a high standard.

Main duties of the job

You will be following the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025 to deliver the high standards we would all expect when using a hospital. Fully supported by a team of supervisors to guide you through training and full understanding of your important role within our team.
