Job summary

The Old Vicarage Care Home is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant on a bank/0-hour contract to keep resident areas clean and welcoming. You will assist with laundry and ensure spaces meet high hygiene and presentation standards, contributing to residents' daily comfort and wellbeing.

Role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Full training on infection control will be provided to support safe care.

Responsibilities

  • Support laundry duties: washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing, with proper labelling.
  • Follow infection control, health and safety, and housekeeping procedures.
  • Help maintain a well organised, comfortable environment where residents feel respected.

The Old Vicarage Care Home is a modern residential, dementia, respite and day care home in Clay Cross, Chesterfield. Surrounded by beautiful mature gardens and excellent facilities, our caring team provides personalised support that helps residents maintain independence, comfort and wellbeing.

Housekeeping Assistant Contract
  • £12.85 per hour
  • Contracted to 0 hours per week
  • Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)
Role Overview

As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.

You will be responsible for cleaning residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care.

Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported.
