Job summary

ST DAVID'S HOSPICE is seeking a Bank/Casual Housekeeper in St David’s Hospice, Llandudno, to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff. You will be responsible for routine cleaning, infection control, waste handling, and supporting the team to ensure high standards of cleanliness and patient comfort.

The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends, experience in healthcare settings, empathy with our hospice values, and a willingness to undertake training as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the hospice, including patient rooms, offices and public areas.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures and hand hygiene requirements.
• Carry out routine cleaning duties (vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sanitising, deep cleaning occasionally).
• Safely handle and dispose of clinical and general waste per hospice procedures.
• Identify and report health and safety concerns, hazards, accidents or equipment faults.
• Follow hospice policies including confidentiality, data protection, safeguarding, and health & safety.
• Maintain accurate records where required.
• Attend mandatory training and participate in ongoing learning.
• Work independently and as part of the wider hospice team to provide a clean, safe environment.

Description: Are you an experienced housekeeper who takes pride in creating clean, safe, and welcoming spaces?

At St David’s Hospice, you’ll play an important role in supporting the comfort, dignity, and wellbeing of our patients and their families. As a Bank Housekeeper, you will help maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention across the hospice, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the hospice, including patient rooms, offices, and public areas.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including colour-coded cleaning systems and hand hygiene requirements.
• Carry out routine cleaning duties such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sanitising surfaces, and occasional deep cleaning.
• Safely handle and dispose of clinical and general waste in line with hospice procedures.
• Identify and report health and safety concerns, hazards, accidents, or equipment faults.
• Follow hospice policies and procedures, including confidentiality, data protection, safeguarding, and health and safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate records where required.
• Attend mandatory training and participate in ongoing learning and development.
• Work independently and as part of the wider hospice team to provide a clean, safe, and supportive environment.
