Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd in Sussex is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff in the care home. You will ensure that all areas are cleaned to a high standard, supporting residents’ wellbeing, dignity and quality of life.

Responsibilities include daily cleaning of rooms and communal areas, laundry duties, and assisting with room preparation for new residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning in a care home or similar setting.
• Ability to follow COSHH guidelines and maintain hygiene standards.
• Good communication and teamwork to support residents and staff.

• Work alongside care staff to support residents' comfort and wellbeing.
• Prepare rooms for new residents and assist with special cleaning after incidents.

We are currently recruiting for a Housekeeper for our client based in Sussex.

The role of the Housekeeper is to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff within the care home. The Housekeeper will ensure that all areas of the home are cleaned and maintained to a high standard, supporting residents’ wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life.

Responsibilities for the Housekeeper:

• Carry out daily cleaning duties throughout the care home, including residents’ rooms, communal areas, lounges, dining areas, corridors, and offices.
• Ensure residents’ bedrooms are kept clean, tidy, and welcoming while respecting residents’ privacy, dignity, and personal belongings.
• Clean and sanitise bathrooms, toilets, and other facilities to a high standard.
• Perform tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, polishing, and waste disposal.
• Follow cleaning schedules and maintain high standards of hygiene across the home.
• Use cleaning products and equipment safely, following COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) guidelines.
• Support infection prevention and control procedures, including enhanced cleaning when required. Ensure laundry duties are completed, including washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distributing residents’ clothing and linen where required.
• Report any maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or health and safety concerns to the appropriate person.
• Maintain accurate cleaning records and complete required documentation.
• Work alongside care staff and other team members to support residents’ comfort and wellbeing.
• Assist with preparing rooms for new residents and ensuring a welcoming environment.
• Support with special cleaning requirements following incidents or outbreaks in line with care home procedures.
