Job summary

Common Thread Ltd in Tranent is seeking a dedicated House Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our new residential home. You will create a safe, supportive, family-style environment for our young people and coach a team of Therapeutic Support workers to deliver high-quality care.

You will oversee safeguarding, implement trauma-informed practices, manage on-call duties (including some weekends), and drive continuous improvement through strong leadership, communication, and empathy.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership role within residential care or a relevant field.
• Formal qualifications in Social Work/Social Care are desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and trauma-informed approach.
• Full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the residential home.
• Create a stable, safe and caring environment for the young people in our care, while supporting and developing a team of Therapeutic Support workers.
• Oversee safeguarding and implement trauma-informed practices across the home.
• Drive continuous improvement through strong leadership and collaborative teamwork, including on-call duties as required, with some weekend work.

The House Manager is a key leadership role, responsible for creating a stable, safe and caring environment for the young people in our care, while supporting and developing a team of Therapeutic Support workers.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership role within residential care or a relevant field
• Relevant professional qualifications in Social Work/Social Care: SVQ 4 Social Services (Children and Young People) and SVQ Leadership and Management for Care Services Level 4 are desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
• A trauma-informed approach and understanding of complex behavioural needs
• Ability to manage a team with empathy and professionalism
• Ability to work flexibly participating in on call where required which will involve some weekend working.
• Full UK driving license
