Job summary

Eldon Housing Association is seeking a caring, organised House Manager for the sheltered scheme at Haywards Heath's Joan Nightingale House. You will be the main point of contact for tenants, delivering day-to-day housing management and practical support to help residents live safely and independently.

This 12-month fixed-term role is 30 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 9am–3pm) with salary £35,113.41 p.a. You will oversee a cleaner, maintain safety, and keep accurate records for welfare and tenancy

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in supported housing or a similar environment.
  • Caring, tenant-focused approach with sensitivity to queries and concerns.
  • Good organisational, communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, email and housing management systems or similar.
  • Understanding safeguarding vulnerable adults, risk assessments and equality in service delivery.
  • Staff supervision experience, or willingness to develop supervisory skills.
  • Health and Safety or First Aid qualification, or willingness to undertake relevant training.

Responsibilities

  • Support tenants to live independently, maintain their tenancies and access health, social care and community support where needed.
  • Provide sensitive and effective communication with tenants, relatives, colleagues, contractors and partner agencies.
  • Coordinate tenant meetings, activities and social opportunities that encourage participation and choice.
  • Monitor rent accounts, tenancy matters, repairs, building safety and day-to-day housing management issues in line with procedures.
  • Carry out welfare calls, risk assessments, support planning and appropriate record keeping.
  • Supervise the part-time Cleaner, including allocating duties, monitoring standards, providing feedback and supporting development.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed, including fire safety checks, building inspections and appropriate responses to emergencies.

House Manager

Location: Haywards Heath


Shift Pattern: Monday Friday; 9am 3pm; 30 hours a week


Job Type: Fixed Term Contract for 12 months


Salary: £35,113.41 per annum (FTE £40,829.55)


Eldon Housing Association is an established provider of Sheltered Housing and Facilities Management Services. We are looking for a caring organised and proactive House Manager to support tenants at our sheltered care scheme in Haywards Heath, Joan Nightingale House. As House Manager, you will be the main point of contact for tenants at Joan Nightingale House, helping them to live safely and independently in a supportive community. You will provide day-to-day housing management and practical support, help tenants access services when needed, and ensure the building and communal areas are safe, secure and well maintained.

Person Specification:


  • Experience of working in supported housing or a similar environment.

  • A caring, tenant-focused approach and the ability to deal sensitively with queries and concerns.

  • Good organisational, communication and record-keeping skills.

  • Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, email and housing management systems or similar systems.

  • Understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults, risk assessments and equality in service delivery.

  • Staff supervision experience, or a willingness to develop supervisory skills.

  • A Health and Safety or First Aid qualification, or willingness to undertake relevant training as per the Competence and Conduct Standard.
