Colchester Institute is seeking an hourly paid ESOL lecturer to cover medium- to long-term sickness on a temporary basis. The post involves teaching, assessing, materials preparation, marking, tutoring and attendance recording across several programme teams. Role runs 0–20 hours per week.

Applicants must have ESOL teaching experience and hold a CELTA or Trinity TESOL certificate, with a Level 5 teaching qualification to be completed within three years of starting.

• Monitor student work against awarding body guidelines and raise achievement levels
• Develop and update own professional expertise in the relevant areas

Qualifications

• Education to Level 3 or above and/or a professional ESOL, English Language, TESOL, TEFL or English Language Teaching qualification
• GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent such as Level 2 adult numeracy or literacy
• Level 5 teaching qualification, or completing one within 3 years of employment or of the first available course
• Cambridge CELTA or Trinity TESOL Certificate

Experience

• Varied EFL/ESOL teaching experience, including teaching any aspect of the syllabus
• Ability to contribute to the optional areas (exam preparation, maths, IT, work skills, writing) or offer additional subjects
• Experience of working with learners with a wide range of needs
