Job summary

The Copthorne Hotel Cardiff-Caerdydd, part of Millennium Hotels UK/EU, is seeking a Kitchen Porter to support a busy kitchen. You will assist with deliveries, maintain cleaning schedules and uphold hygiene and food safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

This is a permanent, full-time role with 40 hours per week and opportunities to progress toward chef roles with training and development within a friendly hotel setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in 4* hotel is desirable, although full training is provided.
• Good communications skills with a positive and energetic nature.
• It's a physical role and you'll be on your feet most of the day, so fitness is important.
• Flexible attitude to shifts - you may need to work nights, weekends and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the receiving and storage of all food deliveries, ensuring the proper storage of food items as quickly as possible after delivery after checking temperatures in line with food safety expectations.
• Ensuring daily and weekly deep cleaning tasks are completed as per the cleaning schedule and signed off in the appropriate kitchen records.
• Following the correct date/day labelling system as expected by Head Chef.
• Keeping your work area clean, safe, neat and tidy adopting a 'clean as you go' approach.
• Regularly checking the amount of clean crockery & utensils, making sure there is always sufficient stocks for the effective running of the kitchen.
