Job summary

The Newt in Somerset is seeking a Housekeeping Team Leader to supervise the housekeeping function, allocate rooms, and uphold our immaculate standards across guest rooms and public spaces. This hands-on leadership role prioritises organisation, teamwork and guest satisfaction within a luxury country estate.

You will train staff, provide operational updates to management, and support the team during sickness or absence while maintaining a positive, professional presence on duty.

Qualifications

• Experience in a supervisory housekeeping role and a track record of delivering high standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and a passion for guest comfort.
• Friendly, professional, with a positive attitude and team spirit.
• Strong communication and organisational skills to lead shifts and report to management.

Responsibilities

• Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are met.
• Allocate rooms and spaces to housekeeping team members.
• Train staff and refresh procedures to maintain brand standards.
• Provide updates to Executive Head Housekeeper and Assistant Manager.
• Support operations during staff sickness or absence.
• Collaborate with hotel team to sustain service excellence.
• Assist with hands-on duties and cover shifts when needed.
• Demonstrate flexibility and take on additional duties when required.

£30,140 per annum plus guaranteed tronc (tips) and fantastic benefits

40 hours per week across 5 days (shifts either 7:30am–4pm or 9:30am–6pm)

A driving license is required for this role

Our Housekeeping Team Leader

Our Team Leader plays a vital role in delivering the immaculate standards our guests expect when staying at Hadspen House and the Farmyard hotels. Leading from the front, you will supervise the housekeeping team to ensure every guest room, shared space and public area reflects the exceptional quality of The Newt. This is a hands‑on role where organisation, teamwork and attention to detail are key. You will support and guide the team throughout the day, ensuring rooms are allocated effectively, standards are consistently met and guests enjoy a truly memorable stay.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect guest rooms and common areas to ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are consistently met
• Allocate rooms and public areas to members of the housekeeping team
• Train team members and refresh staff on housekeeping procedures and standards
