Job description

The Merchant Hotel currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Host to join our team in The Great Room Restaurant.

The Great Room Restaurant is the jewel in the crown of the hotel. A sumptuous space evoking effortless and timeless grandeur, situated in the former main Banking Hall of the building. A more fitting setting for the gastronomic delights prepared daily for discerning guests could not be imagined. The hotel Restaurant is open daily for Breakfast, Lunch, Traditional Afternoon Tea and sumptuous à la Carte Dining.

Rate of pay is £11.44 per hour plus excellent service charge for all staff. A full time member of staff could expect to earn on average an additional £100 -£150 per week through service charge paid weekly through payroll.

Sample rota for a Host:

1. Monday 7am-3am
2. Tuesday 3pm – 11pm
3. Wednesday Rest day
4. Thursday Rest day
5. Friday 7am - 3pm
6. Saturday 7am - 4pm
7. Sunday 3pm – 11pm

The essential criteria for this position is:

1. 12 months experience working in a similar role
2. Excellent IT Skills
3. Excellent organisation Skills
4. Confidence
5. Excellent communication skills
6. Excellent customer service skills
7. Fully flexible as the job entails working weekends and evenings.

Desirable:

1. Experience working within a five star setting

The role will involve:

1. Taking restaurant reservations in person and on the phone
2. Seating customers
3. Dealing with inquiries regarding all aspects of the hotel
4. Directing customers
5. Supervising when required
6. Administration duties
7. Waiting duties when required
