About The Role

This is a Fixed Term contract for 18 months (duration of the apprenticeship).

Apprenticeship pay rates for this post are dependent on age. Please see below for the applicable rates:

Level 3 Apprenticeship Rates
  • Under 18 years - £15,144 per annum
  • 18-20 years - £19,871 per annum
  • 21+ years - £23,555 per annum

We are looking for a Hospitality Supervisor Apprentice who will work closely with the Restaurant & Commercial Events Manager to manage the student cafe service to a high standard, assist in the preparation of food and snacks, deliver excellent customer service, and keep the restaurant areas clean and tidy at all times.

What You Will Do
  • Assist the Restaurant & Commercial Events Manager with the efficient and effective operation of the Company’s catering service, working to agreed service standards and financial regulations.
  • Coordinate the team to deliver to customers according to their needs in line with business/brand standards, enhancing their experience where appropriate.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of catering staff and student casuals.
  • Monitor the team to ensure they follow processes and procedures in line with business/brand standards at all times.
  • Project a willing and helpful attitude to customers, seek knowledge of food items, and keep service areas clean and fully stocked.
  • Assist in the operation of bars and catering services for events and functions.
  • Use of an EPOS till, including cash handling.
  • Ensure food safety requirements are adhered to at all times and all due diligence records are completed accurately.
About You
  • Relevant and up-to-date knowledge of catering and hospitality.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and supervisory experience in bar and/or catering environments.
  • Ability to organize and oversee the work of others.
  • Ability to follow food hygiene systems and monitor due diligence records.
  • Experience using a till and handling cash and credit cards.
  • Ability to use own initiative and create opportunities for upselling products.
  • Effective communication skills with team members and customers.
