Job summary

Gower College Swansea is looking for a hospitality & catering operative to maintain hygienic standards across college kitchens, restaurants and training areas in Swansea. The role involves handling equipment, ordering supplies and supporting practical classes.

Ideal candidates will hold Level 2 Hospitality & Catering with food hygiene qualifications and English & Maths at Level 2. The college offers a generous benefits package and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in Hospitality & Catering with vocational knowledge of food preparation.
  • L2/L3 Food hygiene qualification.
  • Level 2 Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of current Food Safety Standards and Health & Safety legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, healthy, hygienic work environment in Hospitality and Catering workplaces to statutory requirements.
  • Issue, receive and ensure cleanliness of equipment including refrigerators and store cupboards.
  • Source, order, store and dispense equipment and ingredients for practical classes from recognised suppliers.
  • Complete First Responder training and undertake the associated duties.

Job description

  • Maintain a clean, healthy, hygienic work environment in all Hospitality and Catering workplaces to statutory requirements, while satisfying all hygiene and safety legislation. (to include kitchens, restaurant, bar, storerooms).
  • Issue, receive and ensure cleanliness of all equipment ie: refrigerators, deep freezers, store cupboards, including the floor areas where required.
  • Source, order, receive, store and dispense necessary equipment, materials and ingredients required for practical classes and demonstrations, from recognised suppliers and relevant retail outlets.
  • Complete First Responder training and undertake the duties., The successful candidate will complete First Responder training and undertake the associated duties. Upon completion of training, an additional £50 per month will be paid.
    Minimum Level 2 qualification in Hospitality & Catering, to include vocational knowledge of food preparation; e.g. 706-2 / NVQ / VRQ.
  • L2 / L3 Food hygiene qualification.
  • Level 2 (Grade A-C) or equivalent Maths and English qualification
  • Knowledge of current Food Safety Standards and Health & Safety legislation, Appointments will normally be made to the bottom of the salary scale with annual increments on 1st August each year (subject to a start date before 1st February).
