Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) invites applications for an Assistant Portering & Security Manager to support safe patient care at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Lightburn Hospital. You will oversee Portering and Security Services within the Facilities team, driving service quality and teamwork.

This full-time, permanent role requires strong leadership and a commitment to patient-focused service delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Facilities qualification such as City & Guilds or SVQ.
• Experience managing staff including recruitment and attendance.
• Strong leadership and prioritisation skills.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH and infection prevention.

Responsibilities

• Support the operational management and delivery of Portering and Security Services across hospital sites.
• Lead, develop and motivate supervisory and operational staff to achieve excellent performance.
• Manage staff attendance, performance, training and wellbeing in line with NHS policies.
• Respond to operational challenges, incidents and service demands to ensure continuity.
• Monitor quality standards, audits and improvement plans to drive service enhancement.
• Build positive relationships with clinical teams, patients, visitors and stakeholders.
• Promote compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety and related requirements.
