Job summary

The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham is seeking Bank Porters to join our team. You will provide a first-class portering service to patients, consultants and visitors, including transporting patients, delivering mail and equipment, and supporting hospital safety teams.

Working day shifts between 6:30am and 9pm with occasional night shifts; £12.71/hour. The role emphasizes patient care, reliability, and collaboration with hospital staff to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Physically fit and able to lift heavy items.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide portering/security service including mail, linen, drugs and other items.
• Explain room facilities to patients.
• Escort patients to their rooms and assist with luggage.
• Relieve reception staff for breaks.
• Collect and franks mail/post.
• Park consultants' cars as required.
• Check gauges and storage of gas bottles; change as necessary.
• Be part of hospital fire and safety team and crash team.
