Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is advertising a permanent part-time porter position in Portering Services at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, covering community sites as needed. The role is split between rehab, the post room, and relief cover, with a 22.5-hour week spread over three days.

Welsh language is desirable but English speakers are welcome. Weekend and bank holiday availability is essential, with shifts that require adaptability to an unpredictable workload.

Qualifications

• Good standard of secondary education.
• Good communication skills.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Available to work weekends and bank holidays.
• Able to travel between sites in a timely manner.
• Able to cope with distressing situations.
• Nice to have: NVQ Level 2 in customer service, Welsh language ability, experience in a similar post, knowledge of the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to requests to move patients around the hospital.
• Move goods, linen, meal trolleys and mail in a timely manner.
• Collect and deliver samples and medicines.
• Lift and move heavy items, using mechanical aids where a risk assessment requires them.
• Assist in emergency situations.
• Work as part of a team to keep the service running smoothly.
• Adapt to an unpredictable workload and use own initiative.
