Job summary

Serco Limited is seeking a Hospital Porter at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert. The role involves supporting patient journeys, transporting records and essential items, and ensuring safe, efficient portering services within a busy hospital environment.

The position is permanent, 36 hours per week, with flexible shifts across days, nights, evenings and weekends. Commitment to safety and compassionate patient care is essential, along with the PVG scheme requirement and occupational health

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients and visitors safely around the hospital using wheelchairs, beds and trolleys.
  • Support safe patient journeys with courteous and empathetic assistance.
  • Transport medical records, mail, linen, furniture, gasses and other essential items across the hospital.
  • Collect, segregate and dispose of waste in line with procedures and safety requirements.
  • Operate and use equipment and systems including electronic task allocation tools and portering equipment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare colleagues to ensure services run smoothly and patient care remains a priority.

Hospital Porter

Location: Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert, FK5 4WR
Salary: Agenda For Change Band 2: £26,696 to £28,988 plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Permanent, 36 hours over 7 days, flexible shifts available. Varied shift times covering days, nights, evenings and weekends, working 5 days over 7 (Monday to Sunday)

As a Hospital Porter in our healthcare services team, you'll provide an essential portering and logistics service across Forth Valley Royal Hospital, helping patients, colleagues and visitors every day. Your work will support safe patient journeys, smooth hospital operations and the delivery of high-quality care.

What you'll do as a Hospital Porter

This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme, which involves a detailed check of spent and unspent convictions and other relevant information to ensure safeguarding compliance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can provide any necessary support to help you carry out your responsibilities.
