Job summary

Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust is seeking a registered Pharmacy Technician (Band 4) to join the team at West Park Hospital, Darlington. The role covers ward-based medicines management, order verification, and clinical checking to support patient care from admission to discharge.

Open to qualified technicians with GPhC registration; hospital experience desirable. The post is a 12-month fixed term or secondment, full-time, with occasional weekend work and a salary of £28,392–£31,157 per

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 with BTEC underpinning knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
• Accredited checking qualification (or willing to work towards)
• NHSEngland Medicines Optimisation Modules 1-7
• CPPE The community Pharmacy technician: advancing your role programme
• CPPE Mental Health
• Experience of pharmacy practice
• Experience of a patient facing role
• Understanding of the risk issues associated with medicines
• Microsoft Office including Teams, word, Powerpoint and Excel

Responsibilities

• Provide technical aspects of pharmacy medicines management and medicines optimisation services at West Park Hospital.
• Work with the dispensary and ward teams to ensure accurate and timely supply of medication from admission through discharge.
• Clinically check a range of medications from various order forms.
• Support ward-based medicines optimisation and promote safe, patient-centred care.
