Job summary

Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join the hospital pharmacy team at West Park Hospital in Darlington. The post focuses on medicines management, ward-based services and accurate dispensing to patients from admission to discharge.

Applicants should be registered with the GPhC, hold NVQ Level 3 with BTEC, and be prepared to undertake medicines optimisation activities across specialties under supervision.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 with BTEC underpinning knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) (At the time of applying Pre-registration Pharmacy technicians MUST be due to qualify/register in four months or less)
• Accredited checking qualification (or willing to work towards)
• NHSE England Medicines Optimisation Modules 1-7
• CPPE The community Pharmacy technician: advancing your role programme
• CPPE Mental Health

Responsibilities

• Provide technical aspects of the pharmacy medicines management and medicines optimisation services at West Park Hospital in Darlington.
• Work with the dispensary and ward teams to provide patients with an accurate and timely supply of medication from admission through to discharge.
• Competently clinically check an array of medications from a variety of order forms.
• Be responsible for a range of technical duties in the dispensary to aid the smooth and efficient running of the department and assist the Clinical Pharmacists and Senior Pharmacy Technicians.
• Deliver the technical clinical pharmacy service and promote medicines optimisation across a variety of specialties under the direction of the Lead Pharmacy Technician.
