Job summary

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a multi-skilled mechanical engineer to join the Estates and Facilities team. The role covers plumbing and mechanical maintenance across hospital sites, with planned and reactive work, fault finding, testing and installations on water services, pumps, pipework and plant.

You will work on on-call rota, across sites, using CAFM systems, and be a responsive part of a larger hospital engineering service.

Qualifications

• Three years' multi-disciplined maintenance experience.
• Level 3 mechanical engineering qualification required.
• Registration with IWFM, CIBSE, IOSH or NEBOSH encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding, testing and installation work.
• Maintain heating, ventilation, water services, pressure systems and plant.
• Manage planned and reactive work through the CAFM system with accurate records.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, HTMs, British Standards and Trust policies.
• Support audits, inspections, risk assessments and permit-to-work processes.
• Identify, escalate and mitigate risks to service delivery.
• Monitor equipment performance and maintenance trends; support service improvement.
• Liaise with clinical teams, patients, visitors, contractors and colleagues.
• Oversee contractors' compliance with statutory obligations and Trust standards.
• Participate in on-call rota and respond to emergencies.
• Work across NHS Trust sites on engineering and non-engineering tasks.
