Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services is seeking a Mailroom Operative at Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle to manage all mail and parcels across hospital departments. You will receive, sort, and distribute mail, process outgoing items, and maintain accurate records.

The role involves operating franking equipment and ensuring confidentiality. The position is full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent, with a focus on efficient service delivery, professional conduct, and data protection.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail across hospital departments.
• Collect outgoing mail and prepare items for dispatch.
• Process recorded, tracked, confidential, and special delivery items.
• Ensure urgent mail is delivered promptly.
• Maintain records of incoming and outgoing mail and courier shipments.
• Operate franking equipment and apply correct postage.
• Deliver mail to clinical and non-clinical areas including wards and offices.
• Handle confidential information per Data Protection requirements.
