Job summary

Circle Reading Hospital is seeking a Hospitality Assistant to join the Catering team on a full-time basis, 37.5 hours weekly. The role involves supporting kitchen operations, preparing meals to standard recipes, and ensuring food safety compliance.

A flexible shift pattern is required to meet service needs within Circle Reading Hospital. You should have hospitality experience, a catering qualification or relevant industry experience, and be committed to high standards of hygiene and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen or hospitality is required.
• College, HND or equivalent catering qualification, or relevant industry experience.
• Good knife skills and safe food preparation techniques.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Good understanding of HACCP principles, COSHH and safe working practices.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and food safety standards.
• Strong communication skills with patients, visitors and colleagues.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 7.0.
• Willingness to work flexibly to meet service requirements.
• Professional appearance and willingness to comply with the hospital uniform policy.

Responsibilities

• You support all kitchen operations, undertaking a wide range of catering duties to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of food services.
• You prepare food to agreed recipes, quality standards and presentation requirements, ensuring consistency across all meals.
• You undertake all kitchen duties as required, supporting colleagues to ensure daily catering operations run efficiently.
• You ensure all food is prepared, stored and served in accordance with food safety legislation and organisational policies.
• You understand and comply with all emergency procedures, alarms and evacuation protocols.
• You work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team, recognising the contribution of colleagues across all departments.
• You provide a welcoming, courteous and professional service that enhances the patient experience.
