Job summary

Equans Group is recruiting a Fabric Maintenance Technician for the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. The role is permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week with a salary of £31,000 per year and a strong benefits package.

You will support a 24-hour estates maintenance service, perform planned, preventative and reactive maintenance, and diagnose faults across hospital buildings and equipment. You will work shifts and on-call as part of the Fabric Team, ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• NVQ or City & Guilds Craft Certificate relevant to the trade or similar recognised trade Certificate.
• Experience in fabric, building or estates maintenance.
• A broad range of practical maintenance skills.
• The ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs safely and effectively.
• Willingness to undertake additional training and develop new skills.
• Ability to work shifts and participate in an on-call rota.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work in unpleasant or challenging environments.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and compliance.
• Flexibility to undertake reasonable duties outside your core trade.
• Due to nature of the role the successful candidate will be required to obtain DBS to PVG Level.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour maintenance service in a large hospital estate.
• Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance, repairs, testing and installation work.
• Diagnose faults and repair or maintain complex equipment.
• Work to HTMs, legislation and hospital engineering standards.
• Undertake a broad range of fabric tasks (carpentry, painting, ironmongery, flooring, general building).
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and participate in the on-call rota.
• Liaise with stores and contractors; monitor works for safety and quality.
• Complete required training and maintain role competence.
• Promote a positive customer-service culture.
• Undertake other duties as directed by Line Manager/Senior Ops Manager.
