Job Advert - Division Information

Enfield, are currently recruiting for a Hospital Director. Located in Edmonton, North London, Priory Hospital Enfield offers acute and secure services for adult females. We have two medium secure wards, one low secure and one acute ward.

We offer specialist mental health care to people who are unwell and are considered to be unable to look after themselves in the community. We provide specialist assessment, treatment, and care to patients with severe mental illness, complex needs, and those requiring a secure environment.

Priory’s acute and PICU services aim to enable more people to be treated closer to home, supporting the NHS in repatriating out-of-area patients back to local facilities.

The Hospital Director will be accountable for the financial and operational performance of the hospital. This includes leading the Hospital Senior Management Team (SMT), setting standards, managing costs, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Director will also be the Registered Manager, responsible for the delivery of day-to-day services in line with legal standards.

What you will be doing:

  1. Leading and managing the Hospital SMT across all aspects of daily operations, including monitoring performance against quality indicators and managing improvements where needed.
  2. Managing risks to the hospital’s external and public reputation, and leveraging opportunities to enhance it.
  3. Fostering a culture of safety, quality, and excellent patient care, and leading service improvements and innovations.
  4. Overseeing Clinical Governance at the site, including chairing Clinical Governance meetings.
  5. Managing on-call responsibilities for the site.

What we’re looking for:

  • Extensive senior-level experience, preferably in a similar setting.
  • Proven leadership with operational and financial planning expertise.
  • Experience with cost control and financial performance management.
  • Experience in acute and secure mental health services.
  • Experience managing multiple services on the same site.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing diverse teams.
  • Comprehensive managerial and healthcare service development experience.
  • A track record of innovation and operational improvements.
  • Degree-level education or relevant professional registration in health or social care; postgraduate qualification preferred.
