Job summary

Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced hospital caterer to prepare, cook and serve meals to patients, staff and visitors while upholding the highest standards of food hygiene and safety.

The role involves supporting the Deputy Head of Catering, training kitchen staff, and ensuring proper HACCP records and stock control are maintained. A strong focus on hygiene and team coordination is essential.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706/1&2 or NVQ Equivalent
• Good standard of English & Maths
• Level 3 Award in Food Safety – Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
• Basic health & Safety Certificate and Allergen Awareness
• Level 4 Food Safety Management

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals to patients, staff and visitors with the highest food hygiene standards.
• Maintain ‘due diligence’ records: fridge/freezer temps and HACCP.
• Follow food safety management systems and your responsibilities.
• Follow standard recipes and minimise waste while using ingredients efficiently.
• Allocate work to kitchen staff with the Deputy Head/Manager and help train new chefs and catering staff.
• Check incoming food against orders and manage basic stock control.
• Assist in ordering certain perishable foods and dairy items.

Education

City & Guilds 706/1&2 or NVQ Equivalent
