Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Support Services Assistant (Catering) based at Leverndale Hospital in Glasgow. You will assist in delivering patient, staff and visitor catering services, including meal preparation, assembly and distribution, while ensuring food safety and hygiene standards.

The role involves following HACCP, handling dietary requirements, and maintaining records. A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and full driving licence are preferred; training is provided.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of catering services and food service delivery.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (training provided).
• Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures (training provided).
• Knowledge of COSHH regulations (training provided).
• Knowledge of moving and handling principles (training provided).
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices (training provided).
• Training in the safe use of catering and cleaning equipment.
• Understanding of food hygiene legislation and HACCP principles.
• Ability to work within established procedures and timescales.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Support provision of patient, staff and visitor catering services.
• Prepare and assemble meals, distribute food items.
• Provide specialist dietary requirements.
• Maintain HACCP records and stock rotation.
• Operate catering equipment safely and maintain hygiene.
• Follow Health & Safety and board policies.
• Assist with cleaning duties and report faults.
