Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Catering Assistant to join the busy Catering Team within our Estates and Facilities service. You will ensure patients receive meals and refreshments on time, while upholding high standards of cleanliness, food safety and customer service across the hospital.

As a team player with flexibility, you will work shifts 6:00–20:00, including weekends and bank holidays, contributing to 7 days a week operation. We value reliability and commitment to patient care.

Qualifications

• Good standard of Education.
• Basic Computer awareness.
• Proven experience of successfully working in team environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver meals, refreshments and patient provisions to wards and departments across the hospital.
• Support the day-to-day operation of the Catering Service for patients, visitors and staff.
• Carry out cleaning duties across catering areas, including kitchens, storerooms, fridges, freezers and associated facilities.
• Follow food safety and HACCP procedures and accurately record information using the Kelsius system.
• Complete documentation and job sheets as required.
• Report equipment faults and assist in maintaining a safe working environment.
• Work closely with ward teams, clinical staff, visitors and colleagues across the Trust.
