Job summary

Protocol are seeking a Horticulture Lecturer for a temporary post at an FE college in South Yorkshire. The role is 29.5 hours per week with a pay rate of £25-£28 per hour, and the contract runs until 23 October with extension review.

You will plan, deliver practical and theoretical lessons across levels, assess progress, maintain records, ensure health and safety, and support learners to develop vocational skills and employability in the horticulture sector.

Qualifications

• Relevant horticulture qualification at Level 3 or above.
• Experience working in the horticulture industry and teaching within FE.
• Teaching qualification.
• DBS via Update Service or willingness to obtain DBS clearance.

• Assess student work, provide constructive feedback and monitor learner progress against agreed targets.
• Support students to develop vocational skills, industry knowledge and employability skills relevant to the horticulture sector.

• Create a safe and inclusive learning environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times, particularly during practical activities.
• Manage and maintain horticultural facilities, equipment, tools and growing areas to support effective teaching and learning.

Contract: Temporary until 23rd October, reviewed for extension at this time.
Hours: 29.5hrs per week.
Rate: £25-28 per hour including statutory holiday pay

Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging practical and theoretical lessons in Horticulture across a range of levels.

Requirements:

• Relevant horticulture qualification at Level 3 or above.
• Experience working within the horticulture industry and have experience teaching with FE.
• Hold a Teaching qualification
• Hold a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to undertake the necessary compliance checks.
