Job summary

Ministry of Justice's HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) invites applications for the SPI Land Based Activities and Horticulture role. You will supervise prisoners in the land-based work area, ensure targets are met and maintain a safe, positive working environment.

You will teach skills in horticulture, vegetable and landscape tasks, support career progression, and oversee grounds management including planting, cropping and conservation. Hybrid working applies where allowed.

Qualifications

• Must have relevant work experience in Horticulture, including use of horticultural machinery/tractors.
• Currently hold or be prepared to work towards Level 3 qualification or equivalent in horticulture.
• Must possess a full current United Kingdom (UK) driving license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise prisoners in the Land Based Activities and/or Horticulture work area, ensuring targets are met and the environment is safe and positive.
• Maintain the establishment's grounds and conservation areas including landscaping and related duties.
• Inducting prisoners and training them in Health and Safety, COSHH, machinery and tools usage.
