Job summary

Insignis in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Manual Machine Operator to work in a skilled engineering workshop. You will machine a range of components to tight tolerances, with a focus on horizontal boring and traditional/manual equipment.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, setting up machines, and maintaining quality with attention to detail. It offers a Monday–Friday day shift, a permanent contract, and a salary between £35,000 and £40,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual machining equipment with a focus on horizontal boring
• Use manual lathes, mills and other traditional machine tools
• Machine parts to technical specifications and tolerances
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Prepare components for machining and inspect finished parts for quality
• Record work and process parameters, materials and inspection results
• Identify and troubleshoot machining or equipment issues
• Work with the workshop team to ensure on-time project completion
• Follow health, safety and quality procedures
• Support continuous improvement across workshop processes
