Job summary

Ilmor is hiring a full-time Honing Engineer for a day shift at our site in the UK. You will operate honing machines, read engineering drawings, and ensure traceability while working with engineers to optimise manufacturing processes.

A strong problem-solving mindset and a hands-on, structured approach are essential. Ideal candidates have a background in Aerospace/Automotive/Motorsport manufacturing and 4–5 years+ experience in honing, including cylinder liners/blocks.

Qualifications

• Exposure to AS9100 and ISO9001 standards.
• Background in Aerospace / Automotive / Motorsport manufacturing.
• 4–5 years+ experience in manufacturing environment of honing.
• Experience with cylinder liners / cylinder blocks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate the honing machine.
• Interpret and apply engineering drawings.
• Maintain high standards of documentation and traceability.
• Work to tight tolerances and inspect own work.
• Collaborate with Engineers to improve manufacturing processes.
• Create methods of manufacture and workflows.

We are now looking to recruit a full time, site based Honing Engineer on a day shift basis (Mon - Thu 8:00am - 5:00pm and Fri 8:00am - 4:00pm.

Key Responsibilities

• Must be able to set and operate the Honing machine
• Good understanding of Engineering drawings
• Maintaining high standards of documentation / product traceability
• Working to tight tolerances
• Used to using inspection equipment to check own work
• Working with Engineers to make and suggest improvements to the manufacturing processes
• Create methods of manufacture
• Combined with this experience, it is essential that you possess:
• A logical approach to problem solving
• Ability to work to tight deadlines

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Work collaboratively

Qualifications & Experience

• Ideally 4-5 years+ experience in Manufacturing environment of honing, ideally with cylinder liners / Cylinder Blocks
