Job summary

Ilmor is seeking a full-time, site-based Honing Engineer in the UK. The role requires operating honing equipment, interpreting engineering drawings, and maintaining strict documentation and traceability.

You will collaborate with engineers to optimise processes and develop manufacturing methods, while delivering within tight deadlines and maintaining stakeholder relationships. Ideal candidates have 4–5 years of honing/manufacturing experience in aerospace/automotive sectors, and a hands-on,

Responsibilities

• Set and operate the honing machine to required tolerances.
• Interpret engineering drawings and maintain documentation/traceability.
• Work with engineering to improve manufacturing processes and methods.
• Create methods of manufacture for honing tasks.
• Work to tight deadlines with a logical approach to problem solving.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

We are now looking to recruit a full time, site based Honing Engineer on a day shift basis (Mon - Thu 8:00am - 5:00pm and Fri 8:00am - 4:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:

• Must be able to set and operate the Honing machine
• Good understanding of Engineering drawings
• Maintaining high standards of documentation / product traceability
• Working to tight tolerances
• Used to using inspection equipment to check own work
• Working with Engineers to make and suggest improvements to the manufacturing processes
• Create methods of manufacture
• Combined with this experience, it is essential that you possess:
• A logical approach to problem solving
• Ability to work to tight deadlines

Relationship Management:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Skills & Attributes:

• Hands on approach
• Structured approach to work with the ability and flexibility to meet tight deadlines
• Good communication skills in verbal and written formats

Qualifications & Experience:

• Ideal candidates will also have had exposure to / experience of:
• Knowledge of working to AS9100 & ISO9001 Standards
• A background in Aerospace / Automotive / Motorsport Manufacturing
• Ideally 4-5 years+ experience in Manufacturing environment of honing, ideally with cylinder liners / Cylinder Blocks
