Job summary

Rubicon People Partnership in Poole is seeking a Honer to set up and operate honing machines to exact dimensional and surface finish requirements, reading engineering drawings to select tooling and settings, and inspecting parts with micrometers and gauges. You will keep production records and help resolve any machining or quality issues.

The role requires experience in a machine shop or precision engineering, a methodical approach to problem-solving, and a strong eye for detail.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating honing or precision finishing equipment (essential).
• Experience in a machine shop or precision engineering environment
• Confident reading engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Sound knowledge of geometric tolerances and precision measurement techniques
• A high level of attention to detail and final product quality
• A methodical approach to problem-solving and health, safety and environmental standards

Responsibilities

• Setting up and operating honing machines to exact dimensional and surface finish requirements
• Reading engineering drawings and work instructions to select the right tooling, fixtures, abrasives and settings
• Inspecting components with micrometers, bore and air gauges, verniers, dial indicators and surface finish equipment
• Keeping accurate production and inspection records
• Identifying and resolving machining or quality issues
• Carrying out routine machine maintenance and cleaning

You’ll bring bores and components to exact tolerances and surface finishes, measured and proven to the micron.
