Job summary

Rubicon Recruitment Agency is seeking a Honer in Poole to deliver precision honing with exact tolerances and finishes. You will read drawings, select tooling, and operate honing machines to specification, while maintaining records and addressing quality issues.

Role is based on-site with opportunities for skills development in precision engineering. The ideal candidate has proven honing or precision finishing experience, a background in a machine shop, and a strong eye for detail.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating honing or precision finishing equipment.
• Experience in a machine shop or precision engineering environment.
• Confident reading engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of geometric tolerances and measurement techniques.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate honing machines to required tolerances and finishes.
• Read engineering drawings and select tooling and settings.
• Inspect components with micrometers and gauges.
• Keep accurate production and inspection records.
• Identify and resolve machining or quality issues.
• Carry out routine machine maintenance and cleaning.

Precision is the whole job here, and as a Honer you’ll be the one delivering it.
You’ll bring bores and components to exact tolerances and surface finishes, measured and proven to the micron.
This is a specialist role for someone who takes real pride in getting it right first time.

As a Honer, your responsibilities will include:

• Setting up and operating honing machines to exact dimensional and surface finish requirements
• Reading engineering drawings and work instructions to select the right tooling, fixtures, abrasives and settings
• Inspecting components with micrometers, bore and air gauges, verniers, dial indicators and surface finish equipment
• Keeping accurate production and inspection records
• Identifying and resolving machining or quality issues
• Carrying out routine machine maintenance and cleaning

As a Honer, your experience will include:

• Proven experience operating honing or precision finishing equipment (essential)
• Experience in a machine shop or precision engineering environment
• Confident reading engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Sound knowledge of geometric tolerances and precision measurement techniques
• A high level of attention to detail and final product quality
• A methodical approach to problem-solving and health, safety and environmental standards
