Job summary

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking a Housing Solutions advisor to join the Housing Solutions Service. You will work with households who are homeless or at risk, providing advice, options, and support to prevent homelessness.

You will collaborate with social services, health, police and the voluntary sector to assess needs, carry out financial assessments, and help access suitable housing options, reducing reliance on emergency accommodation.

Qualifications

• Background in delivering advice and guidance to vulnerable individuals or households.
• Experience with multi-agency working with social services, health, police and voluntary sector organisations.
• Knowledge of tenancy law and landlord/tenant rights and possession processes.
• Understanding of welfare benefits and Universal Credit and their housing impact.
• Understanding homelessness causes, risk factors and prevention methods.
• Knowledge of third-sector support, crisis services, and housing pathways.
• Understanding financial assessments, budgeting support and debt issues.

About the role

Pay Details: £27,709 - £29,542 scale 5-8
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours Mon-Fri
Main Place of Work: Civic Offices

Description: The successful candidate will work within the Council Housing Solutions Service, a very committed, hardworking and resourceful team that provides statutory advice and support to a range of households who find themselves homeless or threatened with homelessness and who may require alternative housing options. The post holder main responsibility will be around homelessness prevention, and assist is reducing the reliance on emergency accommodation.
