North Yorkshire Council is seeking a proactive Homeless Accommodation and Support Officer for Scarborough to deliver Housing First-based support. You will manage a caseload of up to 18 clients with complex needs, offering holistic, person-centred assistance from first contact to tenancy sustainment.

You will join the REACH team, collaborating with mental health, housing and IDAs colleagues to provide flexible, long-term support in a compassionate, trauma-informed manner.

Homeless Accommodation and Support Officer (REACH, Housing First), SCARBOROUGH

If you are a self-motivated, compassionate, and resilient individual who want to play a role in transforming the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in society, we want to hear from you.

As a Homeless Accommodation and Support Officer you will be working with clients in the locality to maintain their homes within a Housing First project. This client group will have a history of recurrent homelessness and need support to build on their skills to manage in their tenancy. You will carry a caseload of up to 18 people with multiple needs (some of which will be entrenched rough sleepers). You will provide a holistic and coordinated support for all customers, from first contact when they sign up for their accommodation, through to help them maintain their accommodation.

You will be part of the Council’s REACH team working alongside mental health, housing and IDAs colleagues. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an innovative multi-agency team making a real difference to the lives of people facing some of the most significant challenges in our communities. You will join a supportive team that values collaboration, creativity, and the Housing First principles of choice, flexibility, and long-term support.

The ideal candidates will have the ability to work using a supportive person-centred approach, with individuals who have been rough sleeping and the trauma associated with that. You will also have experience of working with people with multiple needs, knowledge of the current welfare system, private rented sector and understand the barriers to engagement.

Additionally, you will be able to work flexibly and creatively according to the needs and patterns of the clients. You need to be available to support the wider rough sleeper team to meet the needs of the client group. This may include working on tenancy readiness skills with small groups or offering one to one coaching for other clients open to the team.
