Home Improvement Agency Technical Officer
BR7 – BR13. £29,166 to £48,700 pa
Bromley Home improvement Agency provides a front-line customer focused service for grant funded adaptations for people and children with disabilities on low incomes. We also provide grants and loans to ensure our residents live safely in their homes.
The postholder will assist in the administration, inspection, feasibility and determination of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG), and other grants and loans available to our residents.
We are looking for an experienced DFG technical officer to join our team. Applicants should have experience of measuring, designing, fully specifying works including extensions, procuring contracts and contractors, managing works on site, overseeing contractors, and signing off completed works.
Applicants will have a good knowledge of the Building Regulations, have experience of planning applications, party wall notices and JCT contracts and most importantly demonstrable experience delivering construction-based adaptation work.
About you:
Due to the nature of the role, excellent customer care skills and the ability to work with people with communication and physical disabilities is important, as well as forming excellent relationships with our OTs.
On a day to day basis you will be required to carry out means testing assessments, inspect and survey clients' homes and prepare drawings, schedules of works or schedule of rates and specifications as required for building control.
As a Home Improvement Agency Technical Officer/Surveyor, you should be capable of providing a comprehensive surveying and technical service to clients and technical advice to the HIA team to meet individual performance standards and have great record keeping skills. Your role will be to ensure compliance with government requirements in delivering mandatory and discretionary grants to vulnerable clients and deliver to agreed timescales.
To apply for this role, you will need to be an experienced in building construction and components with an excellent knowledge of disabled facilities adaptations and extensions. You will need to have good technical knowledge alongside excellent communication and planning skills.
For this role you will need to have access to a vehicle for work as Bromley is the largest greater London Borough covering 57.97M2
