Job summary

Sainsbury’s is looking for a Home Delivery Driver to join our team in Cambridge. You will drive a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries to customers' doorsteps on time and in good condition, perform vehicle checks and ensure roadworthiness, and support store colleagues when not out delivering.

You’ll build knowledge of our products and promotions to help with substitutions and recommendations, work flexibly across the store, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• You must be over 18 and have held a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points on it.
• You will complete an online driving risk assessment as part of your interview and, if successful, there’ll be a driving assessment when you join us.
• Right to Work in the UK is required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver groceries in a 3.5 tonne van to customers’ doorsteps, on time and in good condition.
• Carry out checks to ensure the van is clean, safe and roadworthy and that delivery cases are secure.
• Assist customers with questions and substitutions, and communicate delays clearly.
• Build knowledge of products, services and promotions to assist with recommendations.
• When not delivering, support store colleagues as needed.

Job description

What you’ll be doing:

• Driving a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries to our customers doorsteps, on-time and in a great condition
• Completing checks to ensure the van is organised, clean and roadworthy, and that delivery cases are secure before getting out onto the road to drive safely in a variety of locations and conditions
• Serve our customers brilliantly, supporting with any questions and substitutions, and keeping them aware of any delays
• Build great knowledge about our products, services and promotions to help provide recommendations
• When not out making deliveries, you will be helping across the store as needed
