Job summary

Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking a Community Support Worker for the Support at Home service in South Lakes. The role involves helping people to live safely at home through personal care, meal support, and daily routines, with travel to clients’ homes as needed.

The job requires a full driving licence, access to a motorised vehicle, and an enhanced DBS check with the Adults Barred List. The service operates daily year-round on a fixed fortnightly rota, including weekends and bank

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care such as washing and dressing.
• Assist people with their medication.
• Support with meal preparation and mobility needs.
• Help establish daily routines, including household tasks and confidence building.
• Encourage people to achieve or maintain their independence.
• Provide physical and emotional care to people in their own homes.
• Support people to regain or keep skills and meet care plan goals.
• Build positive relationships and encourage links with the local community, such as clubs and shopping.
• Travel by vehicle to people who cannot be reached by public transport.
