Job summary

ATA Recruitment is assisting a leading automation specialist in finding a Controls Service Engineer. The role is home-based with occasional site work and UK-wide duties, predominantly Midlands and London for on-site support.

You will diagnose and resolve PLC faults, log tickets, and provide remote and on-site support. The position requires on-call duties and strong client communication, within a dynamic engineering team.

Qualifications

• Relevant electrical/controls qualification such as apprenticeship, HNC or degree.
• Significant experience with PLC fault finding and interrogation.
• Siemens TIAPortal experience required.
• Able to log in remotely via VPN and navigate diagnostic pages.
• Strong client communication to obtain diagnostic information.
• Self-reliant, motivated and capable under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Respond to logged tickets for faults and perform troubleshooting.
• Log into customer PLCs remotely and modify code as needed.
• Book faults for later on-site visits and coordinate with PMs.
• Attend handover meetings with Project Managers.
• Provide remote/onsite/phone/email support during on-call periods.
• Work on-call 12/7 two weeks per month.
